Coagulation parameters as predictors of DIC in patients with intact aortic aneurysm.

چکیده
Clinically overt, preoperative, disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) is not common in patient with aortic aneurysm. However, cases with large and expanding aneurysm are especially prone for this coagulopathy. Contrary to the clinically overt form compensated DIC in patients with aortic aneurysm seems frequent and is probably underdiagnosed. The compensated DIC may be recognized, even without bleedings, by laboratory tests documenting the activated coagulation and fibrinolysis. We show that in about one third of patients with abdominal aorta aneurysm (AAA) compensated DIC can be identified. This enables the application of preoperative anticoagulation treatment to improve the intraoperative haemostasis.

Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation Associated with Aortic Dissecting Aneurysm
Disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) is an acquired coagulation disorder that occurs when the normal hemostatic balance is disturbed, primarily by excessive thrombin formation. Moreover, while DIC is a rare complication of aortic dissecting aneurysm, it is also a well-recognized one. We reported a case of DIC associated with aortic dissecting aneurysm in a 55-year-old woman who was tran...
متن کاملLessons Learned from a Case of Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Accompanied by Unstable Coagulopathy
Preoperative examination for abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAAs) occasionally reveals an abnormal decrease in coagulation factors and thrombocytopenia, fulfilling the criteria for disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC). Treatment of the underlying disorder is indispensable for alleviating DIC. We report an uncommon case of a patient with AAA and DIC who showed prolonged thrombocytopenia des...
متن کاملLong-term management of chronic DIC associated with inoperable aortic aneurysm with low molecular weight heparin.
Chronic DIC is a rare complication of aortic aneurysm. Surgical correction is the treatment of choice but for inoperable patients or those with continued DIC after surgery heparin can be used to control the coagulopathy. A case with inoperable multiple aortic aneurysm and chronic DIC managed successfully with dalteparin over a long period is discussed in this report.
متن کاملEffect of combined therapy of danaparoid sodium and tranexamic acid on chronic disseminated intravascular coagulation associated with abdominal aortic aneurysm.
Chronic disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) is a well-known complication of aortic aneurysm. A 63-year-old man with bleeding tendency and a large palpable abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) was diagnosed as having fibrinolysis dominant DIC by the excessive activation of both coagulation and fibrinolysis (plasmin -alpha2 plasmin inhibitor complex concentration is usually >4 microg/ml). Alt...

A 67-year-old man with non-valvular atrial fibrillation (AF) and previous myocardial and cerebral infarctions had uncontrollable bleeding after undergoing dental extraction because of an exacerbation of chronic disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) due to an abdominal aortic aneurysm. After successful treatment of the bleeding with the transfusion of fresh frozen plasma and platelets, na...
